LMTA Teacher Enrichment Conferences are designed with the music education professional in mind! Our workshops are open to everyone; and discounts are available for LMTA members as well as for high school and college music students. LMTA has been the recipient of grant funding and support from MTNA, PMTA and local college music departments, allowing us to bring such nationally known speakers as Elvina Truman Pearce, William Westney, Scott McBride Smith, Barbara English Maris, Jean Barr, Maurice Hinson Jackie Herbein, and Marvin Blickenstaff to Lancaster for the benefit of our local music community.

Dr. Shih will present a program of Bach, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Wagner-Liszt, Horowitz-Bizet, and Brahms
Christopher Shih has been described by the Washington Post as "flawless" and compelling", with "an easy command of the instrument and an uncanny ability to project material". He has performed in over a dozen countries around the globe, and in 1997 was one of only four Americans invited to compete in the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where he was a press and audience favorite. He has won numerous prestigious awards.

Award-winning keyboardist and musicologist Sonia Lee maintains an active concert schedule in North and South Americas, Europe, and the Far East, and has been praised by critics for her "very high standard of playing" and her ability "to dazzle an enraptured audience." She is the recipient of many awards and grants. Many of her harpsichord and organ performances have been broadcast on radio and recorded on CD under various labels.

The collegiate music student embarking on a teaching career is most likely a very intuitive music learner and being faced with a 6-yr.old (or 60 year-old!) who just doesn't "get it" can be a most frustrating experience. This workshop will explore creative images, toys, and tools to tap into each student's body wisdom, allowing the teacher to move quickly beyond words to the physical movements and gestures of basic piano technique
